Tiering Storage to the Cloud
As more organizations are making the leap to using cloud for storage options, it is interesting to see how the cloud storage landscape is shaping up. Not only is cloud storage viable for cloud services, but there are also many use-cases to use a cloud based storage platform as a 2nd or 3rd tier for data center services.
Cloud SSD is the new Black
Among many of the enterprise storage offerings from cloud vendors, there are many SSD offerings that have become available. The promise of “a faster cloud” has drawn many customers who can now build with plans to leverage more low-latency, high-speed storage.
Along with having single tier offerings, it is also possible to use the different storage types to create a multi-tier storage environment for applications and infrastructure. We have come a long way in a relatively short time. Transparency in offerings by cloud providers paired with better analytics on performance, has created a real destination for enterprise data. Good times are ahead for sure!
