SwiftStack Lands Version 2.0 With a Bold Prediction In Tow
Eric Wright, vExpert, Cisco Champion

Startup vendor SwiftStack has announced that their OpenStack Swift based object storage platform has reached the milestone of version 2.0 on June 17th. What makes this an interesting release, aside from the feature set, is the bold prediction that came along with the press release.

Enterprises Take Note: Object Storage is Coming!

SwiftStack CEO, Joe Arnold, proudly added this to the announcement:

All enterprise applications will rely on object storage to keep up with the massive scale of data and access points required by users in a cost-effective way. It’s the only way enterprises will be able to compete today and in the future. And we’re dedicated to bringing this ability to the enterprise.

This announcement may not seem groundbreaking to many folks who are already intimate with object storage environments and the impact they are having on storage, but for many enterprise storage customers, this is something they should be taking note of.

The 2.0 release of SwiftStack contains some great features such as better Active Directory integration, global data distribution across multiple regions, better storage policies, and also proudly announcing that they are part of the storage backing for HP Helion and eBay among its large customers.

The blog about the release is here at the SwiftStack product blog.
