Make Your 3PAR Like a 1PAR…by Deduplicating It!
Well, I’m joking about the 1PAR part of course, but what isn’t a joke is that HP has come to the table with a strong competitive product with their HP 3PAR StoreServ all-flash 7450 storage unit. One of the new features being touted is the addition of deduplication to the popular unit.
As industry flash sales juggernaut EMC continues its drive to become the top maker of flash storage for the data center, and startups like Pure Storage and Nimbus Data targeting the incumbents with their own offerings, HP is among the enterprise storage vendors who is ready to try to take a piece out of both of those sales targets.
Strong Words, Strong Product
Calvin Zito does a great presentation on a recent chalk talk here that talks about the performance and price advantage that HP is pitching with the 7450. While some of the chat is clearly tongue-in-cheek poking at the competition, the stats on price and features do tell a story of a potential heavy competitor in the all-flash marketplace.
It is good to see what options are out there for the all-flash market as it is clearly heating up. For the full blog post by Calvin, click here and find out more about the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 and how it compares.
